Christmas message : Pope calls for peace for Jerusalem

          Pope Francis has used his traditional Christmas Day message to call for “peace for Jerusalem” and dialogue between Israelis and Palestinians, after U.S. President Donald Trump stoked regional tensions with his recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. “On this festive day let us ask the lord for peace for Jerusalem and for all the Holy Land,” he told the crowd. “We see Jesus in the children of the Middle East who continue to suffer because of growing tensions between Israelis and Palestinians,” he said in his address, delivered from the balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica to tens of thousands of people.
